ASUU strike: Lecturers won’t be paid – El-Rufai(See Why)

Governor Nasir El-Rufai led administration has declared the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, as illegal. The government also said that it will not pay for days lecturers of the state owned university did not work. El-Rufai’s spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement lamented the ongoing action, noting that there was no dispute between the government and the striking lecturers. “The Kaduna State Government is in receipt of communication from the Kaduna State University, KASU branch of ASUU, confirming that the branch has joined the nationwide strike because they are full members of the national union”, he said. “This is unacceptable to the state government. Biafra Police IG deploys 500 mobile policemen to Aba

P Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris  (Nigeria Police Force) The Inspector-General of Police,  Ibrahim Idris , has deployed more than 500 mobile policemen to Aba, Abia State, amid the ongoing pro-Biafra/military crisis. According to the police spokesman,  Moshood Jimoh , more policemen could be deployed in the coming days as the IG is determined to restore peace to the South East. Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had gone on a rampage in Aba and environs after soldiers allegedly attacked the house of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu , in  Umiahia  last Thursday. The suspected IPOB militants were said to have to set the police station at the Ariaria international market, Aba, on fire. Following the unrest, the Nigeria Army on Friday labeled the IPOB a terrorist group.
